Shut up, Galvão! Galvão is the TV commentator

And Brazil Will Move On

Shaman MDSC connecting to kindred spirits

Shaman MDSC, from here, there and everywhere, predicted a clear hexa-championship for Brazil this year. While having a delicious B-B-Q at his place this Easter, I was emphatic in declaring Brazil would never be champion if Ronaldo, the chunky one, played. He had already yellowed or had a fit or had petit-mal or whatever in 1998, during the final game against this same France that defeated Brazil today. What did he do? Nothing.

Ronaldo may be a great player. There is a disconnect somewhere in his psyche, perhaps? He may stand but won't deliver. Today the Marseillaise cannot be blamed as being the 13th. player. Ronaldo started messing the game and kept on messing it till the end.

Nelson Rodrigues

Nelson Rodrigues had a way with words that has entered contemporary history. he says, for example,"Since the discovery, Brazil is a Narcissus in reverse, one who spits on his own image."

"Futebol is the supreme manifesto on the art and creativity of a people."

"A genius, saint or a prophet is he who sees the obvious."

And another futebol philosopher, Neném Prancha, said , and I reminded Shaman MDSC of these words,

"If santería ( voodoo) won games, the Championship in Bahia would be a tie every year."

When Woody Harrell is having one of many arguments with Wesley Snipes, in White Men Can't Jump, I thought of Brazil and jogo bonito. Says Woody, "The difference between you and me is that you'd rather look good than win. I would rather win than look good."

This Brazilian would rather look good and win!

Today Brazil didn't win or look good. Hey, we'll all go to the beach!

Jogo bonito missed only a day on the field
