I begin to suspect Google, Inc. might have a racist bias against Brazil. Many people know Brazilians are ethnically mixed, except for pockets of Caucasians in the South. I just cannot understand how a company that keeps on spreading around its motto is Do no evil keeps a cavalier attitude re. Orkut.com, its relationship site. The composition of Orkut is 74% Brazilian.
It isn't an individual with a complaint. It's the Brazilian government demanding the identfication of pedophiles, Nazis, racists, xenophobes... Every morning I open my mailbox to see three to four Google-orkut alerts.
This morning there was an article by Dojival Filho, from the e-publication GABC, in São Paulo. This young journalist has been leading a campaign of public awareness of the dangers of the Internet. Vandalism increases on Orkut as impunity remains the soup du jour. I have had my own taste of Duck Soup. The Marx Bros. movie is great. Being conned and harassed is not.
An idea of identification of scraps left in users' scrapbooks was sent to Google,Inc. They sent it back saying they don't speak Portuguese.
Nobody went on his knees for Google, Inc. to operate in Brazil. Brazilians are very patient. As Morrisey sang with the Smiths, "If Not Now, When?"
I would've shut the biatcha down and fined her. The language of money is the language they understand.
